Posted by Jøstein 10 Dec, 2013 20:49:39

I find myself in my hospital room listening to Bob Dylan again. High fever I survive. Not being able to listen to music is far worse. It's plain torture for me to be surrounded by silence or even worse: NOISE.
I suppose this is the first post on this blog for ages, right? I know one single person once was following the RSS feed. I doubt she still does. Oh well, it was always a "note to self" kind of thing.
Writing has a therapeutical effect on me as well, I suppose.

I see that I liked Android a few years ago. I still hate Android a bit less than I hate iOS. But Windows Phone is the only mobile OS that stands out. I just love the integration with facebook, the email and contact sync via outlook/exchange, the picture gallery that automatically grabs my photo albums from facebook, the possibilities. Has to be experienced; it's life changing.

I met an Orc, the first nice Orc I've ever met. We worked pretty much side by side without attacking each other.

Then I met a Blood Elf. He just looked at me and I figured I was safe. But once I'd attracted a few mobs this guy stabbed me in the back and then laughed.

Thursday!Diary-ish

Posted by Jøstein 14 Jan, 2010 21:05:28

It's the best Thursday I've had in my life! Honestly. I got gift cards in the mail today for being a good boy. So I spent 50% of them on comic books, feinschmecker food stuff, snacks (for me and for my dog) and of course a sixpack.

And I ran into a ladyfriend of mine while going there. I wanted to call her or something for a long time, but she's working shifts and I don't wanna be a pest.

The other 50% will be spent on ... hmm. I'll have to think about it. A Superdry T-shirt! And ... a gift for a good friend of mine ... Again, I'll have to think about it. The biggest gift of all is to give.

Never againiPhone

Posted by Jøstein 28 Dec, 2009 19:12:49

I gave Apple a try. iPhone looks fancy, and it's easy to use. In the beginning that is. Then you get annoyed by the lack of freedom. And there's no way to make shortcuts to anything. If you want to turn something on/off, you need to enter settings and submenus. Anyone may use iPhone, but it's not for me. You simply can't customize AT ALL. Screw that shit. HTC here I come. Android + Sense UI = Perfection.

Got this tune on my brain.

I've spent quite a lot of time discussing politics the last week.

I feel I've come to a point where there's nothing left to discuss.

It was fun as long as it lasted.

There's two ways of doing things:

1) Make your own decisions

2) Let others decide for you

Just choose one of the two, and don't come complaining later.

Who does your body belong to?

If you ask communists/socialists, they will reply: to the workers.

If you ask fascists, they will reply: to the state.

If you ask capitalists, they will reply: to yourself.

Social democracy = tyranny of the majority

That's all.

Sipping red wine. Oh well, not really sipping. More like drinking. I wouldn't go as far as call it chugging. That comes later. It's just 9 pm.

I'm watching The Wire, first season. It's supposed to be awesome. I find it interesting so far. It's not the kind of stuff that hits you in the face with it's awesomeness, but there's some quality about it. And I particularly love that they didn't cast any well known actors. Makes it feel more real.

Other than that, my birds have made a mess out of my livingroom -again-. I wish they could just shit in their cage. But I suppose there's no way of teaching birds where to shit.

I gave my plant some fertilizer, I hope it doesn't die on me. At the shop they told me it couldn't be killed. And I've watered it a lot. It really "ties the room together". Ok. Some more people arrived and the party wasn't a total disaster. Went out, had one drink, no aircondition, went back to prepare the potential nachspiel. I don't have high hopes for that. Probably I'll fall asleep on the couch and wake up tomorrow not remembering much.

There were some cute girls at the club, but I'm not the type to even think about trying to talk to them. My sorry ass belongs at home, sadly I can't drive right now. The standard Lorem Ipsum passage, used since the 1500s

1914 translation by H. Rackham

"On the other hand, we denounce with righteous indignation and dislike men who are so beguiled and demoralized by the charms of pleasure of the moment, so blinded by desire, that they cannot foresee the pain and trouble that are bound to ensue; and equal blame belongs to those who fail in their duty through weakness of will, which is the same as saying through shrinking from toil and pain. These cases are perfectly simple and easy to distinguish. In a free hour, when our power of choice is untrammelled and when nothing prevents our being able to do what we like best, every pleasure is to be welcomed and every pain avoided. But in certain circumstances and owing to the claims of duty or the obligations of business it will frequently occur that pleasures have to be repudiated and annoyances accepted. The wise man therefore always holds in these matters to this principle of selection: he rejects pleasures to secure other greater pleasures, or else he endures pains to avoid worse pains."

Pet birds.
First I bought a female. She was a pretty little thing, and would sit on my finger if I moved gently around her.
Then I got a male so she wouldn't be lonely. Now they flee the moment I make a move.
I'm nice to them. I feed them, refill their water every day, clean their cage at least once a week.
What do I get in return? I get to clean up their feathers and droppings every day.
But it's cool to watch them interact. I'm trying to figure out whether they fight or flirt, but I guess it's a bit of both.

Best ballad everMusic

Posted by Jøstein 05 Aug, 2009 19:28:41

Deep Purple - Soldier of Fortune

I have often told you stories
About the way
I lived the life of a drifter
Waiting for the day
When I'd take your hand
And sing you songs
Then maybe you would say
Come lay with me love me
And I would surely stay

But I feel I'm growing older
And the songs that I have sung
Echo in the distance
Like the sound
Of a windmill goin' 'round
I guess I'll always be
A soldier of fortune

Many times I've been a traveller
I looked for something new
In days of old
When nights were cold
I wandered without you
But those days I thougt my eyes
Had seen you standing near
Though blindness is confusing
It shows that you're not here

Now I feel I'm growing older
And the songs that I have sung
Echo in the distance
Like the sound
Of a windmill goin' 'round
I guess I'll always be
A soldier of fortune
Yes, I can hear the sound
Of a windmill goin' 'round
I guess I'll always be
A soldier of fortune
